Mil-Spec Creates Its Most Opulent Hummer H1 Yet

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of climbing inside a Hummer H1, you know they’re actually quite Spartan. Detroit, Mich.-based Mil-Spec Automotive has expertise in taking the H1 further for the discerning shopper, and the newly-announced M1 Truck #005 has pushed the envelope once again.

The $250,000 custom go-anywhere vehicle emphasizes improved performance and greater luxury. First, a hand-built 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel provides 500 horsepower, pairing with an Allison transmission. ARB Air Locker differentials help guard against getting stuck as you venture off the beaten path.

Other additions include Wilwood slotted and drilled rotors, MSA tuned suspension, low-profile snorkel, gas struts for the hood, and a backup camera. Mil-Spec even adds coatings to keep everything looking nice, like ceramic for the underbody and textured polyurethane for body panels.

Mil-Spec also provides some of the finer things in life, like a sumptuous leather-wrapped Momo Prototipo steering wheel. You get amenities some take for granted, like power windows and locks, remote entry, USB ports, powered side mirrors, and dual HVAC systems. AMP Research Power-step automatic-deploying running boards make getting in and out easier.

In the true spirit of the H1, there’s a soft top made of highly durable Tough Duck marine canvas. Foam padding insulates against noise, plus keeps the top from flapping when you take this rig out on the highway. A 60-inch roof-mounted LED lightbar boosts visibility when you’re on trails.

Only seven of these H1s will be made in 2019, so now’s the time to grab one while you still can.
