Mercedes Launches the SL550 “Mille Miglia 417”
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL pulled off an impressive class victory at the Mille Miglia back in 1955, and now the brand is celebrating this historic win with a “Mille Miglia 417” edition SL550. Though there are no performance upgrades to speak of, the modified cabin and body are more than enough to make this limited-edition rig one to behold.
The exterior is draped in a Designo Night Black Magno matte-finish paint that is contrasted by numerous red highlights. These red accents appear on the front lip spoiler, the rear under-bumper spoiler, the brake calipers, and the surrounds of the black AMG Performance wheels, which measure 19 inches up front and 20 inches on the rear.
Inside the cabin, this SL550 “Mille Miglia 417” edition comes with sporty AMG Line seats wrapped in supple leather with red accents, carbon-fiber-look headrests, and “SL Mille Miglia 417” embossed logos. Red also adorns the seat belts, the floor mat surrounds, the outer edges of the center console, the door panel armrests, and the Nappa leather steering wheel. While the interior upgrades are pretty simple, they are all tastefully done and accent the nature of the SL550 nicely.
Given this model is based upon the SL550, it comes standard with a 4.7-liter biturbo V-8 that produces 429 horsepower. This model hits 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds while turning in EPA fuel economy numbers of 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
The SL550 “Mille Miglia 417” will launch in the U.S. in the fall of 2015, and pricing will be announced at a later date.
