The hotly anticipated McLaren 675LT is set to make its debut on March 3, 2015 , but apparently the British automaker couldn’t resist debuting it a little early. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the automotive excellence that is the 675LT.

McLarens focus in converting the 650S into a longtail model centered mostly on making the model lighter and improving its aerodynamic efficiency. The visual and aerodynamic changes include a new carbon-fiber front bumper, a carbon-fiber front splitter with verticals on each end, extended door blades, additional cooling ducts just fore of the rear wheels, a “Longtail” airbrake made from carbon fiber, two circular exhaust ports, an open rear fascia for better cooling, a louvered carbon-fiber rear bumper, additional louvers on the rear window, air outlets on each edge of the rear bumper, and a carbon-fiber rear diffuser.

The lightweight body bits combine with a titanium exhaust system to create a dry weight of just 1,230 kg – a 100 kg weight loss relative to the 650S. That weight loss is mighty impressive, given the 675LT is 37 mm longer than the 650S.

Under the hood of the 675LT, the model uses the same basic 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 as the 650S, but the British automaker changed or update more than half of its components, including the turbos, cylinder heads, cams, exhaust manifolds, connecting rods, and the fuel pump. All of these updates result in the model cranking out 675 PS and 700 Nm of torque. Those numbers amount to a 25 PS and a 22 Nm increase over the 650S’ 3.8-liter engine. This added power travels through McLaren’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission on its way to the rear wheels.

The end result of all of this work is a 0-to-100 km/h time of 2.9 seconds and a 0-to-200 km/h time of 7.9 seconds. Thought the former is identical to the 650S’ numbers, the latter is a half second faster than the 650S. Top speed is down to 330 km/h – 3 km/h slower than the 650S – likely due to the heavy aero updates. The big difference buyers will notice it how the 675LT handles at high speeds.

In addition to being amazingly sexy, the 675LT is also available in four exclusive colors in its range topping “By McLaren” specification. These colors include Silica White, Delta Red, Napier Green and Chicane Grey.

We’re sure to learn more once the 675LT makes its full debut in Geneva on March 3rd.
