McLaren Reveals a Teaser Spy Shot of the Upcoming Sports Series

Just last week, we brought you the first details surrounding the long-rumored McLaren P13. These details included the confirmation of the Sports Series name and the fact that this will be a sports car instead of a supercar. Unfortunately, other than those bits of info, the rest of the Sports Series’ details have been scarce, until today.

Thanks to a pair of “spy shots” that McLaren released, we get a better idea of what to expect the Sports Series to look like. These first shots confirm that the Sports Series will carry the familiar McLaren family cues, like the swooping roofline, LED running lights on the outer edges of the headlights, swan-style doors, and stalk-mounted side-view mirrors. There are two differences between the current McLaren lineup and the Sports Series that I can pick out from these images, and those are the higher front lip and what looks to be an air intakes that are mounted higher up the doors.

The rest of the details behind this hotly anticipated sports car remain under wraps, but there are a few details that we can assume are true. The big one is that this model will likely carry a less powerful version of the brand’s 3.8-liter, V-8 engine. Industry rumblings put this engine at around 500 to 550 horsepower to put it in line with the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Aston-Martin V12 Vantage S.

Another easy-to-guess detail is that this “entry-level” McLaren will come in just shy of $200,000, putting it on par with the 911 Turbo S and V12 Vantage S.
