Since the 2016 MX-5 Miata debuted, we’ve seen only a few concepts, none of which were overly impressive. At SEMA, however, Mazda is set to unveil a pair of concepts that are sure to get the speculation machine churning. These two are dubbed the MX-5 Spyder and the MX-5 Speedster concepts.

The Spyder concept, which is the right half of the above image, has more of a classic roadster look to it, according to Mazda, and wears an exclusive Mercury Silver hue. On the inside, this concept gains plenty of leather upgrades to set it apart from standard MX-5s.

The Speedster concept, on the other hand, focuses on keeping weight to a minimum, and this is clear just by glimpsing at the left half of the above image. It features all the main characteristics of the speedsters from the 1950s, but with modern twists. This concept wears a Blue Ether paintjob and features a small wind deflector in place of the windshield.

Both of these concepts are more than just style pieces, as they also feature a host of performance upgrades. These include items from KW Suspensions, RAYS wheels, Racing Beat, H&R Springs, Franks Fab Shop, and more. Additional details on these upgrades will come at the SEMA show.

The new MX-5 Miata is plenty light on its rubber in its standard setup, as it checks in at just 2,332 pounds. According to Mazda, both of these SEMA-bound concepts underwent significant weight-loss procedures and will come in well under the base model’s curb weight. More on this will come at SEMA.

The SEMA show is just right around the corner, as it kicks off on November 3rd. Keep it locked here for all the latest on these and all the other concepts from the show.
