The Maserati Quattroporte has been a surprise success for the Italian brand over the past three years, but now it’s time for a refresh. When the 2017 sports sedan hits the market, look out for a revised look, an updated cabin, and a little more speed.

While the general outline of the Quattroporte will remain unchanged, many of the styling bits get upgrades. These tweaks include updated bumpers with matte-black details, a more pointed front grille with new vertical chrome bars, matte-black mirrors and side skirts, and an electronic grille shutter that regulates engine temperature and reduces drag by up to 10 percent.

Inside, Maserati spent a lot of time in the middle of the cabin, redesigning the central dashboard to allow for an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a new climate-control interface, and a new drawer. The lower center console also got a little love in the form of a new rotary control, a new lid, and a new storage space for your phone. On the tech side of things, the new Quattroporte is available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a surround-view monitor, lane-departure warning, forward collision warning with auto braking, and more.

Maserati will also introduce two all-new trims for the Quattroporte known as the GranSport and GranLusso. These trims will be optional on all V-6-equipped models and will come standard on the V-8-powered GTS model. The GranLusso trim focuses on the sports luxury side of things with features like a chrome bumper finish, side skirts, a body-colored spoiler, 20-inch wheels, silk upholstery, open-pore Radica wood, and more. The GranSport trim will bring out the sporty side with more aggressive air intakes, an enhanced rear bumper, a piano black spoiler, 21-inch Titano wheels, red calipers, sculpted seats, a sports steering wheel, and more.

Powering the Quattroporte will again be three engine options, including a 275-horsepower 3.0-liter diesel (Europe only), a 3.0-liter Ferrari-built V-6 with 410 ponies, and a 530-horsepower Ferrari-sourced 3.8-liter V-8. Respectively, these powerplants sprint the Quattroporte up to 252 km/h (157 mph), 286 km/h (178 mph), and 310 km/h (193 mph)—improvements of 2 km/h (1 mph), 1 km/h (0.6 mph), and 3 km/h (2 mph).
