Lucid Motors Finally Reveals A Revolutionary EV
After a lot of teasing, Lucid Motors has finally revealed the Air. It’s an electric sedan with 1,000 horsepower and a 400-mile range. That’s more powerful and better range than the Model S. And it looks great, outside and in. This could be one of the most convincing competitors for Tesla.
Lucid is facing an uphill battle. Car companies are launched all the time, and they die all the time. It’s a tough industry to crack into. The same Chinese investor helping to back Lucid is also behind Faraday Future, which seems to be in some serious trouble, and he’s getting ready to launch his own automaker in the US.
But Lucid says it has solid financial footing. If that’s the case, it might have a shot at making it. Considering how great the Air looks, it will be a great option. Just check out the backseat, because it might be a place you won’t want to leave. Tesla could learn a thing or two about interiors from Lucid.
Unlike Faraday Future, Lucid has a real, working car. Production won’t start until 2018, with the first cars reaching customers in the latter part of the year. The price is supposed to be well into the six digits at first. As production ramps up and Lucid’s cranking out 60,000 Airs each year, the base price is supposed to be about $65,000.
