Land Rover Is Apparently Working On A Coupe
Forget everything you know about Land Rover. Traditionally, the brand has been associated with some pretty hard-core off-road vehicles, although the Evoque doesn’t exactly fit that profile. Now, according to UK automotive site Car, Land Rover is going to stray into the coupe category.
Before you start jumping to all kinds of crazy conclusions, know this won’t be a coupe like what you might thinking. Car claims an upcoming “Range Rover Sport Coupe” or “Range Rover Velar” is in the works. It’s based on the highly praised Jaguar F-Pace and will launch next year!
That’s right, Land Rover has been developing this vehicle in secret, with hardly leaked info. Pretty much the only source has been spy photos of heavily camouflaged prototypes. Even though it’s being called a coupe, the thing really has four doors. It just will have a weird roofline and rear, like the BMW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe.
The assumption is that the Range Rover coupe will be more expensive than the Evoque but less than the Range Rover Sport.
This coupe version of the Range Rover certainly won’t be some trail monster, not that most people dare rock crawl with their regular Range Rover. That probably won’t stop Land Rover from releasing promo photos of people camping on top of the Himalayan Mountains with one, or something along those lines. In reality, the new model will spend a lot of time in mall parking stalls.
