Lamborghini Wants to Make Another Off-Roader
Lamborghini, a brand known for producing exotic supercars, wants to build a genuine off-road monster. If your memory doesn’t stretch back to the 1980s and early 1990s, you would believe Lamborghini has never made a trail-worthy vehicle.
The LM002 was cool like the Hummer H1 and Mercedes G-Wagen. Unlike the current Lamborghini Urus, the SUV was made primarily for crawling over rocks, instead of driving fast. Now it looks like Lambo wants to return to these brutal roots.
Really, it’s all about how the Mercedes-AMG G63 S is generating a ton of market interest. Yes, it’s a ridiculous SUV most people wouldn’t off-road in their wildest dreams, and somehow that makes it a runaway hit. Call it conspicuous consumption, tasteless, or a lack of all reason, but these ostentatious trail-worthy SUVs clad in chrome-wrapped bits are hot.
All of this isn’t that surprising. Just about every exclusive automaker is jumping into the SUV market, from Aston Martin to Ferrari. Lamborghini has always marched to the beat of its own drummer, so you’d expect the brand to find something zany to make it stand out from the competition, and this certainly qualifies. Expect a wild design and much ridiculousness, if this talk results in an actual vehicle.
