Koenigsigg Shoots Down an SUV but Confirms a Sedan

We all know that SUVs and crossovers are the hottest vehicles on the market these days, and it becomes clearer as more and more companies add them to their lineup. So far, Bentley, Jaguar, and Maserati have all joined the SUV race and more are sure to follow. One company that, until today, has neither confirmed nor denied its participation in this segment, Koenigsegg, has officially said it will not offer one, but a sedan is a possibility.

This report stems from an interview that TopGear.com had with the man himself, Christian von Koenigsegg. During this chat, the supercar-loving company head said it is absolutely possible to modify one of his chassis to suit an SIUV and that he feels the public would accept it. However, he simply “doesn’t want to.” I guess when you own a successful supercar manufacturer, the public doesn’t always dictate what you should do—take note, Lamborghini…

What is on the drawing board is a possible four-door model. According to the quite talkative Koenigsegg, “It’s a project we’ve been working on for quite some time. I’d be surprised if that’s the next thing we release – because we’re getting such a good response for our traditional type of supercars – but it’s a car I’d love to do.”

There are really no details to go along with his confirmation that the automaker is working on a sedan, but we can all easily dream up what this hot people-hauler would be. I imagine a distinct Koenigsegg design with a snarling 1,000-plus-horsepower V-8 doing the dirty work. It would be glorious!
