SUVs, SUVs, and more SUVs. It seems like these people haulers are multiplying at an alarming rate as of late. Today, Kia has revealed a teaser image that shows off an SUV concept that it will unveil on January 11th at the Detroit Auto Show.

This concept catches us off-guard, as there are typically indications of concepts like this months before they actually debut, but there were no leaks of this model that I can think of. This SUV clearly takes Kia’s design language in a whole new direction, as it features a far more upright stance than its current lineup of crossovers. This upright stance is a staple of premium SUV maker, Land Rover, which leaves me wondering if Kia is planning to build a Land Rover rival that will cost thousands less.

According to Kia, this SUV is more than just looks too. It also has an abundance of high-end features, including “state-of-the-art health-and-wellness technology.” I am not too sure what sort of health-and-wellness technology an SUV can have, but we will learn about it soon enough.

There is no mention of powertrain details yet, but this doesn’t prevent me from speculating. Assuming this rig will do battle with the likes of Land Rover, look for it to carry a version of the brand’s 5.0-liter V-8 and the recently revealed turbocharged V-6 from the Genesis lineup.

We’ll learn more about this concept vehicle, which Kia says could inspire a future production SUV, come January 11th. We’ll bring you all of the latest details as they become available, so stay tuned for more.
