Jaguar Rolls Out Some Details and a Lower Base Price on the 2017 F-Type
When Jaguar rolled out the F-Type, every automotive expert knew that the brand had a huge success on its hands. Little did they know that this single sports car would account for roughly one-third of the brand’s sales as it has. Today, Jaguar has revealed the details surrounding the 2017 F-Type, including a lower base price that is sure to increase sales.
For the 2017 model year, the F-Type will continue with its base trim, the midrange F-Type S, and the range-topping F-Type R. The only real details that Jag has revealed on the new F-Type today are all on the base model, starting with its cheaper base price of $61,400 for the coupe and $65,400 for the convertible. These prices represent drops of $3,600 and $2,700, respectively.
Like last year’s base F-Type, the new model will come standard with the 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 that produces 340 horsepower. The standard transmission on this base model will be a six-cog manual, while an automatic will be optional.
Just because Jag will drop the price of the base F-Type doesn’t mean it will be stripped down. The standard version of the sports car will come with plenty of upscale features, like six-way power seats, valet mode, a solar attenuating windshield, the Meridan 770-watt audio system with navigation, suedecloth seats, and Jaguar EliteCare coverage.
The details on the F-Type S and R remain unknown for now, but I don’t foresee many changes coming. We shouldn’t have to wait for too long for the info to come out, as the 2017 F-Type is due to hit showrooms in the spring of 2016.
