Is Toyota Planning To Resurrect The FJ Cruiser?

Ever since Toyota announced the FJ Cruiser was going end-of-life, people have been hoping the off-roader would make a return. It looks like they might actually be getting that wish.

According to a recent AutoGuide report, Toyota filed to trademark the name “Toyota FT-4X.” The theory is this would be applied to a concept vehicle, because Toyota is big on using “FT” for concepts. Of course, the “4X” just screams four-wheel drive.

Toyota lately has been notorious for teasing future production models for a long time. Just look at the Supra, a car that’s long-coming, still. So don’t get too revved up for the possible return of the FJ Cruiser yet. It might be a while before that happens.

With how hot the Jeep brand has been for a while, and Ford getting ready to bring back the Bronco, the off-roader market could be looking to really heat up. Maybe Hyundai will want to jump in next?
