Hyundai’s reign as the only automaker to offer a vehicle with three green powertrain options (the Ioniq) will quickly come to an end. Today, Honda has announced that the hydrogen-fueled Clarity Fuel Cell will be joined by two new variants, the Clarity Electric and the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid next year.

The details surrounding the two new versions of the Clarity are still under wraps, but Honda was clear that these models will look and feel just like their hydrogen sibling. The only other bits of information that Honda revealed was that the two new versions will arrive in 2017 and that the Plug-In Hybrid model will travel more than 40 miles on a charge before kicking over to the gasoline engine. There is no indication of the EV model’s range.

Unlike the Clarity Fuel Cell, which Honda limited to select markets in California, the Clarity Electric and Plug-In Hybrid will have a broader release. There is no mention of just how broad the electric model’s release will be—I am certain it will start in the usual states like California, Oregon, New York, etc.—but the Plug-In Hybrid model will be available in all 50 states.

There is no mention of when the two new models will make their in-the-metal debuts, but given they are due for arrival in 2017, we should see them sometime this year. We’ll bring you all the latest news as it becomes available, so keep it locked here for more.
