Hennessey Will Pump the Corvette ZR1 to 1,200 Horsepower

Well, that was fast. Hennessey, the Texas tuner that never thinks cars are powerful enough, has already announced it’s developing three upgrade packages for the Corvette ZR1, because 755 horsepower is for lightweights.

With the HPE850 package, you only get 850 horsepower and 715 lb.-ft. of torque. Hennessey says the car will do 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and the quarter mile in 10.3 seconds at 136 mph. The upgrade package includes improvements for the valve train, exhaust, and engine management.

As the name suggests the HPE1000 package boosts output to 1,000 horsepower and 966 lb.-ft. of torque. The 0-60 time drops to 2.5 seconds, but the quarter mile sinks to 9.7 seconds at 147 mph. Hennessey also claims a top speed of over 220 mph. To squeeze all that out, this package adds a high-flow supercharger and intercooler, ported heads, and similar tweaks to the first package.

Finally, the HPE1200 is the one everybody’s talking about, putting 1,200 horsepower and 1,066 lb.-ft. of torque in your hands. The car does 0-60 in 2.2 seconds, the quarter mile in 9.2 seconds at 147 mph, and can go over 230 mph. That’s possible, thanks in large part to a huge displacement bump at 7.0 liters, plus quite a few upgraded engine internals like the valves, crankshaft, connecting rods, etc. The higher-flow supercharger and exhaust bits come with it as well.

Hennessey says to call about pricing and information on how long the installation will take. But first, you need the ZR1.
