Ford has been getting a little nostalgic as of late with the unveiling of its ’66 Edition Ford GT, and today it’s continuing this with a Mustang that pays homage to an iconic aircraft.

Meet the “Ole Yeller” Mustang, which pays homage to the legendary Ole Yeller P-51D Mustang airplane. Ford did things right by starting this bright ‘Stang off with the best under-hood bits it has as it’s based on the wild Shelby GT350 Mustang. This gives it a flat-plane-crank 5.2-liter V-8 engine that cranks out 526 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. This pairs with a TREMEC six-speed manual transmission that tosses the power to the rear wheels.

What makes this “Ole Yeller” Mustang so special is its custom yellow paint, “Ole Yeller” badges and accents and mirrors that project images of the iconic plane. Also enhancing the exterior are the bits of carbon fiber, including the front splitter, the grille uprights, the rocker extensions, and the rear wing. Inside, this custom GT350 boasts bespoke Recaro racing seats, and unique floor mats, sill plates, and logos. To round out the cabin, there are aviation-themed gauges.

Sadly, this beast will not be available at a showroom near you. It is actually a one-off model that Ford will auction off at the EAA Gathering of Eagles gala. All proceeds from the auction—and there should be plenty—will go to supporting EAA’s youth education programs.
