Ford has teamed up with Petty’s Garage to create a version of the 2016 Mustang GT it claims will declaw the Hellcat twins. The Petty’s Garage 2016 Mustang GT King edition can be had with up to 727 horsepower, but if you want one you’ll have to act fast and have a big pocketbook.

Three different versions of the pony car will be available. Only 243 King models will be made, 43 King Premiers and a mere 14 King Premier convertibles. Anyone can order the cars through a local Ford dealership, but for a steep price. The beginning suggested retail price is $67,495 for the base version. The King Premier is priced out at $90,495.

To create these special cars, Petty’s Garage slaps a Ford Performance supercharger onto the engine, adding 235 horsepower. That puts the total peak output to 670 horsepower. The shop also adds a MagnaFlow exhaust, a cold-air intake, custom engine calibration, TrakPak Ford Performance halfshafts, adjustable sway bars and an upgraded rear axle. The cars ride on 20-inch wheels with Continental Extreme Performance summer tires wrapped around them.

The exterior of the cars also gain a unique center-mounted exhaust, plus a custom rear diffuser and other appearance parts. Among the interior additions is a special dash plate with Richard Petty’s signature, embroidered head rests, custom sill plates and even special floor mats.

Going with a Premier edition does more than increasing the price, it also includes some additional components. Among them is a big brake upgrade kit with six-piston front calipers, four-piston rear calipers and two-piece rotors. The car’s body wears a custom tri-color stripe that’s Petty blue, red and white, with a crushed and tumbled glass clear coat. Custom leather upholstery tops off the more premium offering.

If buyers want to push the Mustang to a higher level, an available supercharger upgrade dials up peak output to 727 horsepower. To help handle the extra power, upgraded wheel bushings are also offered, as is a coil-over racing suspension.
