After three decades of rocking out in front of audiences around the world, Motley Crue is doing one final tour that is being sponsored by Dodge. The official announcement was made by the group in Los Angeles, where a formal “Cessation of Touring Agreement” was signed, which will be effective at the end of 2015. The group then performed on CBS This Morning and Jimmy Kimmel Live as a way to celebrate the beginning of the end and get the word out about the tour.
Officially, the “Final Tour” is presented by Dodge and produced by Live Nation. The first show will be in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 2, 2014. The band will then make 72 other stops in the United States before the end of the year, before dedicating 2015 to international concerts. The tour will be done with Alice Cooper, bringing another rock legend to audiences for an especially explosive combination.
“Whenever I talk to people about Motley Crue, the common thread is how cool and relevant the band remains even after 33 years,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO of the Dodge Brand. “This irreverent ‘staying power’ resonates deeply with the Dodge brand as we turn the corner on our 100 year anniversary. What better way to celebrate the band’s final tour and the 25th anniversary of ‘Kickstart My Heart’ than to do it together?”
Dodge and Motley Crue have had a relationship for some time. The automaker has used the band’s “Kickstart my Heart” song during commercials for the Charger and Challenger.
