Chevy Will Give 2019 Camaro a Facelift
Chevrolet rolled out a new paint option for the 2019 Camaro at SEMA, a retina-searing yellow not everyone liked. It was a bold move, but just as bold was the aggressive, fanged front fascia the concept Camaro SS wore. Now, a new report claims that fascia got the green light for production.
Automakers use events like SEMA to gauge interest in design changes. While Chevy no doubt was testing out its new Shock yellow paint, it also was a chance to see what people thought of the experimental front fascia.
That Camaro fans like the more aggressive front fascia isn’t a surprise, at least to me. Camaros have a certain appeal that caters to brash, overly assertive design trends, like murdering them out. If it would pass government regulations, I’m sure a fair number of Camaro owners would like a bumper with two-foot spikes protruding outward.
Camaro sales have been in the toilet, to be quite frank. Chevy needs a Hail Mary to get back in the game against the Mustang, and this fanged front fascia seems to be at least part of that strategy, if you believe the report from GM Authority.
