Ron Fellows knows a thing or two about Corvettes. He also knows a few things about making them faster. For SEMA, Fellows and Chevrolet Performance teamed up to create a new portfolio of performance parts based on components from the incredible Z06 that are re-engineered to fit the 2014 and newer Stingray.

While none of these parts make the Stingray any more powerful, they all positively impact its performance one way or another.

The first items up are aesthetic and aerodynamic in nature. The team modified the Corvette Z06’s Level 3 Aero Package to fit the Stingray. This package adds in large end plates on the front splitter and an adjustable transparent wickerbill on the rear spoiler for added downforce. Also added in are the Z06’s grille kit and its quarter panel vents. The former increases front-end air flow by 17 percent, while the latter increases air flow to the differential cooler by 25 percent.

The next step was to enhance the Corvette’s cooling system. To achieve maximum cooling effectiveness, Fellows and Chevy Performance modified the Z06’s 600-watt radiator fan for use in the Stingray. Also added in it’s a secondary radiator kit that reduces engine coolant temps by 25 degrees, oil temps by 15 degrees, and it gives the ability to cool the manual transmission. Finally, a rear transmission cooler from the Z06 allows for additional cooling capacity over the standard Corvette’s trans cooler.

As for the powertrain, there are only a few Z06 bits available. The best of the bunch is the Z06’s carbon-fiber torque tube and prop shaft kit. This tube is 15.5 pounds lighter than the stock one on the Stingray. The other changes are the high-temp couplers for the prop shaft and a heat shield for the torque tube and prop shaft kit.

The biggest selection of Z06-sourced bits now available for the Stingray are in the chassis. Here, Chevy and Fellows added carbon-fiber underbody braces that are 17 percent lighter than those on the Stingray, and the Z06’s larger two-piece rotors squeezed by six-pot caliper up front and four-piston calipers out back. The final chassis option is the T1 suspension upgrade, which includes stiffer shocks, stabilizer bars and bushings.

All of these bits had to be shown at SEMA somehow, so Fellows and Chevy Performance created a Corvette Stingray Track Day Concept, which comes with all of the aforementioned components. This concept came dressed in a black suit with a special extractor hood and red accents on the hood vent grille, mirrors, and spoiler. Other mods include a carbon-fiber roof panel, a front fascia extension, Carbon Flash rocker extensions and vents, and edge-lit LED turn signals.

Chevy Performance has yet to announce when these components will be available for purchase or what they will cost.
