Chevy Shows of the 50th Anniversary Edition Camaro
The 2017 model year will mark the 50th anniversary of the legendary Camaro. Today, the automaker gave us a quick preview of the celebratory model, and dayum, It’s sharp!
Things kick off with a 2017 Camaro 2LT or 2SS, meaning there are plenty of high-end features to begin with, but Chevy adds even more to this model. On the outside, there is an exclusive Nightfall Gray Metallic hue paired with a black top on convertible models, 20-inch 50th anniversary wheels and center caps, a 50th anniversary stripe package, “Fifty” badges, satin accents on the grille, a body-colored front splitter, and orange brake calipers.
On the 2LT models, buyers get the added benefit of the RS Appearance Package. This package adds in HID headlights, LED taillights, and a truck-lid-mounted spoiler.
Like the exterior, the Camaro 50th Anniversary gets a healthy dose of upgrades. These include exclusive black-leather upholstery with suede inserts, orange accents, and 50th anniversary logos on the instrument panel, seat backs, steering wheel and illuminated sill plates.
Given the base engines in the 2LT and 2SS models remain unchanged in this special-edition rig, look for the 2LT to come standard with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot that produces 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Optionally, buyers can add a 3.6-liter V-6 that cranks out 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque. The 2SS, on the other hand, gains a 455-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8.
Chevy says the 2017 Camaro 50th Anniversary Edition will hit showrooms in the summer of 2016. Prices will arrive as we get closer to its release date. Other information, like how limited it will be, will likely also come as we near its arrival date.
