What better place than SEMA to reveal an insanely limited, drag-race-ready Camaro? That’s exactly what Chevrolet did, and we have all the details on the COPO Camaro based on the newly revealed sixth-gen Camaro.

Like the sixth-gen Camaro, the COPO model sees a significant drop in heft, as its body-in-white mass falls by 133 pounds. In addition to the weight loss, the body is also 28 percent more rigid, allowing it to have much less flex than before under heavy torque.

The COPO Camaro also comes with a race-tuned suspension. Up front, there are lightweight and adjustable struts, lightweight disc brakes, and an unassisted rack-and-pinion steering system. In the rear is a four-link suspension system with adjustable coilovers a panhard bar, a stabilizer bar, an aluminum rear-axle center section with a spool-type diff and 40-spline axle shafts, and disc brakes. Also included in the COPO package is a fuel cell with a high-pressure pump ad a racing wiring harness.

For power, buyers can choose several engine options, some of which are supercharged while others are naturally aspirated. These include a 5.7-liter V-8 with a supercharger, a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V-8, or a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8. A Turbo 400 three-speed auto transmission pairs up to each of the three engines.

At SEMA, Chevy showed off a customized version of the COPO Camaro. This show car had a concept 5.7-liter V-8 with a 2.9-liter Whipple blower, a fully customized interior with a safety harness, gauges and a floor-mounted shifter, and Weld wheels wrapped in Goodyear rubber.

Chevy will limit the new COPO Camaro to just 69 units. Interested parties can register here, and an independent company will randomly select people to purchase the car.

More details surrounding the COPO Camaro should arrive soon, so stay tuned.
