3. 2017 Mazda CX-9
There are so many crossovers and SUVs rolling out these days that it’s hard to get them all straight.
Mazda, however, stands out from the crowd with its complete redo of the once-plebian CX-9. This redesign gives Mazda’s resident three-row SUV style to match the brand’s sporty nature without going too over the top for the family. Where the CX-9 really impresses us is under its hood. This is where a new 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G turbocharged engine will live. Not only is this engine plenty potent with its 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque at the call of your right foot, but it is also an estimated 20 percent more efficient than the 3.7-liter V-6 it replaces.
