Cadillac Announces Pricing and Release Date for the 2017 XT5

Save for the recent redesign of the Escalade, Cadillac’s SUV and crossover offering has been pretty stagnant. This is all set to change soon with the release of the upcoming XT5 crossover. Today, Cadillac has officially revealed the new crossover’s in-stores date and pricing.

The 2017 XT5 will make its debut in dealers across the country in April 2017, just in time for those spring and summer road trips. So the XT5 can meet a wide range of customers’ needs, Cadillac will offer it in four trims: base, Luxury, Premium, and Platinum. Base pricing starts at $38,995 for the 2017 XT5 while the Platinum trim level starts from $62,500. Look for the Luxury and Premium trims to come in at around $45,000 and $50,000, respectively—these prices will come later.

Powering all trim levels of the XT5 will be a 3.6-liter V-6 that cranks out 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Thanks to Active Fuel Management, this engine converts to running on just four cylinders under light load, increasing fuel economy.

An eight-speed auto transmission handles shifting duties while available all-wheel drive helps with traction. The latter can transfer up to 100 percent of the power to either the front or rear axle and to either wheel on each axle.

More details on pricing and option packages should be available as we get closer to the XT5’s release date. We could also learn about a potential performance model that can compete with other performance-oriented luxury crossovers. Cadillac has already shot down the idea of an all-out V-Series model, but it is still mulling over a potent Vsport trim.
