The BMW 4 Series may have just launched, but BMW is already preparing to show off the high-performance variant in the model series, called the X4. The all-new model will be shown off in public for the first time during the 2014 New York International Auto Show. The unveiling will happen during an official press conference on April 16, 2014 at the BMW stand in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

The all-new sports activity coupe, as BMW calls it, promises the sleek profile of a traditional coupe, while also packing the utilitarian capabilities of a sport utility vehicle. BMW is offering two different engine options for the vehicle. The X4 xDrive28i will come with the award-winning BMW 2.0-liter four cylinder engine, which puts out 240 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. The vehicle has an official base MSRP of $45,625 and a stated 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of just 6.0 seconds.

The X4 xDrive35i will come with the popular 3.0-liter inline six cylinder engine, which puts out 300 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine helps the vehicle dash from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, making it by far the quicker of the two new X4 models. BMW says the base MSRP for the xDrive35i will be $48,925.

Both BMW X4 models will come with an eight-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission that can be controlled manually with steering wheel-mounted shifter paddles. The transmission also works with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. Production starts in the United States this spring.
