In 2016, the hottest version of the Audi A3 sedan that we have here in the U.S. is the S3 and its 292-horsepower 2.0-liter TFSI engine. For years, there have been rumors an RS 3 sedan making its way to the U.S., but they have, for the most part, gone unconfirmed. Now, thanks to the folks at QuattroWorld.com, we learn that the four-door RS 3 is, in fact, confirmed for a U.S. release.

This report comes following the Audi Summit meeting for Audi of America Employees. According to the report, we have a little while to wait, as the RS 3 sedan isn’t due to arrive stateside until 2017, making it a 2018 model year. It will, however, be well worth the time given the specs are accurate.

The report claims that the super-hot RS 3 sedan will arrive boasting a 2.5-liter inline-five powerplant that cranks out more than 400 ponies. If true, this would give it significantly more power than its biggest rival, the AMG CLA45, which churns out 375 horsepower. This powerful five-pot will pair with a seven-speed S-Tronic box and Audi’s famed quattro all-wheel drive to deliver insane performance.

In addition to its crazy performance, expect the RS 3 to look downright awesome inside and out. It will feature the subtle, yet just aggressive enough, body kit that graces all RS models and a sporty interior with grippy seats and all sorts of Alcantara. According to the report, the 2018 RS 3 will also boast a new look relative to the RS 3 hatchback, including new headlights and grille.

Pricing, of course, is still a question mark, but QuattroWorld—the experts on all things Audi—expect it to fall somewhere in the $55,000 to $60,000 range. Their guess is as good as anyone’s.

Keep it locked here for more as we should start learning more about the newest compact hot sedan with how close we are to its unveiling.
