Audi Reveals Forbidden Fruit in the New-Gen TT TDI Quattro

Since the dieselgate scandal, the chances of ever seeing another VW, Porsche or Audi vehicle with a diesel engine are slim to none, and slim is just about out the door. For Europe, however, all is good with the TDI and Audi is showing it off in a new way: with a Quattro-equipped TT.

This new version of the new-generation TT rolls in to give TDI shoppers more than just the front-driven TT to choose from. The addition of Quattro to the TT TDI helps out in three ways: traction in slippery conditions, agility and acceleration.

As for the latter, this 2.0-liter engine’s 184 PS (181 horsepower) and 280 pound-feet of torque are enough to sprint the sports car to 62 mph in just 6.7 seconds in coupe form and seven seconds in its convertible layout. Top speed rings in at 145 mph in the coupe and 142 mph in the convertible. This all combines with an estimated 54.3 mpg combined to make this one awesome all-around sports car.

Of course, the TT TDI will not make its way to the U.S. (thanks, VW). U.K. pricing is not available just yet, but it’ll likely split the TT and the TTS. Ordering will start in early 2017 and deliveries will start in the spring of the same year.

Stay tuned for updates.
