The Alfa Romeo 4C arrived in coupe form earlier in the 2015 model year, but we all knew that a 4C Spider was in the works. Well, now that topless 4C is a realty and Alfa Romeo has just revealed all of its details and pricing.

This little slice of Italian sports car glory will set U.S. and Canadian buyers back $63,900, and it will start hitting dealerships in the summer of 2015. While that price tag may seem high for a topless sports car without the famed Porsche crest on its nose, the 4C Spider actually comes pretty well equipped to battle the legendary roadster.

Likely its best feature is its 1,750 cc turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces a respectable 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This boosted powerplant mates to an Alfa TCT dual-clutch transmission with four selectable modes – all-weather, natural, dynamic, and race – to deliver outstanding performance. In fact, the 4C Spider outpaces the $82,100 Boxster Spyder with its 4.1-second run to 60 mph.

On top of being quick, the Alfa Romeo 4C is very nimble and can handle with the best of them. Its rigid body, sport tuned suspension, and sticky tires allow it to hold up to 1.1g in the corners. Braking distance is insanely good too, as the 4C Spider can deliver up to 1.25g in braking power, bringing the lightweight sports car from 60 mph to 0 in less than than 100 feet.

For buyers who need even better handling, there is an optional Track Package. This adds in high-performance shocks, larger sway bars, available Pirelli P-Zero “AR Racing” tires, a performance flat-bottom steering wheel, and carbon-fiber exterior mirrors and gauge cluster.

So, how does a car give up 138 horsepower and 51 pound-feet of torque to the Boxster Spyder and still beat it to 60 mph? It’s all about the power-to-weight ratio. The Alfa 4C Spider uses a carbon-fiber monocoque and an aluminum chassis to keep its weight at just 2,487 pounds, which best the Boxster Spyder by 412 pounds.

The cabin is pretty well laid out with two leather choices, which include black leather with red stitching or red leather with black stitching. Buyers can also opt for black leather with Giallo accent stitching, but this is only available with the Track Package.

Other premium features in the cabin include a flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather, aluminum paddle shifters, a 7-inch driver information center, an Alpine premium audio system, and composite-framed sport seats.

There is no mention of how many units Alfa plans to sell in the U.S., so my only suggestion is to hit up your local dealership ASAP to lump down a healthy deposit to avoid missing out.
