This is one of the big moments Alfa Romeo fans in the United States have been waiting a long time for. The Italian company recently released various specs on the 4C as well as information on pricing. The announcement has solidified promises that Alfa Romeo would return to the U.S. automotive market.

To get into the new 4C, it will cost at least $55,195, which is the starting price for the base 4C, which will go on sale starting in the fall. The more optioned-up Launch Edition version of the 4C coupe carries a starting price of $69,695.

You aren’t paying just for a cooler-sounding name with the Launch Edition. The car comes with a number of extra equipment. Production will be limited to just 500 units, making it a truly limited run vehicle that is worthy of consideration by any Alfa Romeo diehard.

A number of specs have also been released by the Italian brand. The United States version of the 4C comes with a curb weight of 2,465 lbs. which is impressive, but is still quite a bit heavier than what you can get if you live in Europe where safety and emissions standards aren’t quite as stringent. As for the engine, it will be a 1,742 cc turbocharged four cylinder that pushes out 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. That might not sound like a lot, but considering the 4C’s light curb weight, it should be plenty to get the mid-engined coupe moving in a hurry. A six–speed dual-clutch automatic and manual transmission is also standard equipment, along with a rack-and-pinion steering setup.

Buyers will be able to choose from six different paint options: Basalt Gray, White, Rosso Alfa, Rosso Competizione, and Madreperla White. An optional Convenience package tacks on features like an alarm and cruise control. Of course the Leather package adds leather-wrapped seats and other interior surfaces, like the instrument panel. Performance enthusiasts can add a Track package, which adds upgraded suspension components, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, etc. The Exterior package adds unique wheels, a rear spoiler, and Satin Titanium side mirrors.
