Fiat and Abarth are all about creating limited-edition models, and today they have announced a special-edition version of the Abarth 695 Biposto. The special model, known as the 695 Biposto Record celebrates the 50th anniversary of Carlos Abarth losing 30 kg (66 pounds) in order to fit into the tight cabin of a Class G car and break the class’ acceleration record.

The 695 Biposto Record will be pretty easy to distinguish from the outside. It comes coated in a bright Modena Yellow with Tar Cold Grey trim, and features a painted “695 Record” badge on the side and an aluminum hood. Also setting this special edition apart are its 18-in OZ alloy wheels.

Abarth spent a little time modding the interior to set it apart from the standard 695 Biposto too. These small changes include carbon-fiber seat shells, four-point harnesses, a cargo net, and a number plaque.

Powering the 695 Biposto Record is the same 1.4-liter MultiAir four-cylinder as the standard Abarth 695 Biposto, meaning it produces a respectable 190 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The only powertrain modification for this limited-edition model is an Akrapovic exhaust system tht delivers a raspy note.

A six-speed manual transmission is responsible for sending the power to the front wheels. This powertrain helps deliver a 5.9-second 0-to-60 sprint and a top speed of 143 mph.

The suspension of the 695 Biposto Record remains unchanged, but its brake system gets a mild upgrade in the form of larger Brembo brakes.

The 695 Biposto Record is available now, but you’ll have to act fast, as there will be only 133 units available – the same number of records owned by Abarth. Each model runs £36,610 ($55,299) OTR. There was no announcement made for the U.S. market, so I assume this will be a U.K. model only.
