The pickup-truck war rages on between the Big 3, and Ford is looking to get in the latest blows with its 2017 F-Series Super Duty lineup. Today, Ford made the details of this lineup public, showing off its new class-leading capacities and output.

Starting at the heart, the F-Series Super Duty lineup has a revised engine lineup that pushes it beyond its competitors from GM and Ram. The 6.7-liter Powerstroke V-8 diesel has been tweaked to deliver a stout 925 pound-feet of torque—an improvement of 65 pound-feet—while horsepower remains unchanged at 440. On the gasoline side of things, Ford has pushed the Super Duty’s 6.2-liter V-8’s torque to 430 pound-feet, representing an increase of 25 pound-feet over the 2016 model.

This extra torque will be put to good use, as the F-Series Super Duty can also haul more than anything in its class. Maximum gooseneck towing checks in at 32,500 pounds while the maximum fifth-wheel towing sits at 27,500 pounds for the F-450 4×4. Maximum conventional towing now sits at 21,000 pounds.

On the smaller F-250 (with the new trailer-towing package) and single-rear-wheel F-350, conventional towing is now set at 18,000 pounds. Both of these pickups also lead their classes in payload capacity as the former can haul up to 4,200 pounds and the latter can tug around up to 7,630 pounds.

There is also lots of technology that goes into the 2017 F-Series Super Duty, including a segment-first adaptive cruise control, collision warning with brake support for heavy trailers, a trailer tire-pressure-monitoring system, and a blind-spot information system that accounts for up to a 33-foot-long trailer.

The 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty is slated to hit showrooms in the fall of 2016. Pricing will come at a later date. Stay tuned for updates.
