The redesigned Audi TT is stunning, as the German automaker has taken its timeless design and sharpened it up just enough to make it more modern. With this sharpening, Audi assures that its current lineup will likely age just as gracefully as the previous lineup’s design. While I am quite fond of the new TT, I am a little disappointed that the RS version was not released with the lower models. Now, with the TT RS finally getting closer to production, new details surrounding it have surfaced online.

According to a motor-talk.de member who was supposedly at a quattro representative meeting, the next-generation TT RS will be even more powerful than we all thought. Earlier rumors claimed a smaller engine with electric turbos, but this newest report claims that the TT RS will carry a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder that produces a mighty 395 horsepower. For those doing the math, that’s a 40-horsepower bump over the last-gen TT RS.

This report continues with another bit of impressive news about the TT RS, and that is the claim that there will be an even more potent model in the near future. Likely named the TT RS Plus, this model will reportedly produce a tidy 420 horsepower.

Paired to these two powerful versions of the 2.5-liter engine will be a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Sorry, traditionalists, no manual option here.

Though we have yet to get a look at the new TT RS, save for a few spy shots, it is pretty easy to determine how it will differ from the base TT. Look for a slightly modified Singleframe grille, upgraded wheels, a more aggressive body kit, dual oval exhaust exits, and larger air inlets up front.

Luckily, we won’t be stuck guessing too much longer, as all signs point toward the 2017 TT RS debuting at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in March. Stay toed for more details.
