2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Pricing Announced

The 2016 MX-5 Miata has been a bit of a love or hate kind of release among its enthusiasts. Its crazy styling and its 155-horsepower engine both have some enthusiasts scratching their heads, but others see the new look as a refreshing change and focus on the fact that it shed nearly 200 pounds since 2015. I find myself somewhere in the middle, but there is one thing that we can all agree on: it remains one of the most attainable roadsters on the market.

Mazda has reconfirmed this for the 2016 model year, as it has finally unveiled the starting price for the redesigned roadster. The 2016 Mazda MX-5 will start out at a fairly inexpensive $24,915 in its entry-level Sport trim. This base price represents just a $945 increase over the 2015 model, which is impressive considering the amount of engineering that likely went into the redesigned model.

Mazda has yet to reveal pricing for the entire lineup, but look for it to continue with the Sport, Club, and Gran Touring models that it had in 2015. The Club model is supposed to debut at the New York Auto Show, and Mazda announced that this will be the “most aggressive road-going iteration of the fourth-generation flagship roadster.” We’ll find out soon enough what Mazda means by that.

There is still no mention of a specific sale date for the 2016 Miata, and the automaker said that we’ll learn full pricing details later in 2015. Stay tuned for more information.
