The Alfa Romeo 4C was all-new for the 2015 model year, and it marked the first time since 2008 that a new Alfa was available here in the U.S. The 4C’s success in its first full year in the U.S. is arguable, as it delivered just 663 units. However, for a niche car that runs more than $50,000, that’s actually not bad at all. For its second model year (2016) Alfa has unveiled a slew of changes that are certain to make the 4C and 4C Spider cooler and more pleasant to drive.

The changes to the 4C start on the outside with an all-new available carbon-fiber halo (the sheathing over the roll bar on the Spider). Shoppers will also find a new dual-mode, center-mounted Akrapovic dual-mode exhaust system that changes its tune along with the Alfa DNA selector drive modes. This exhaust system is a welcome addition to one the already-awesome-sounding 4C.

Inside the cabin is where the majority of the changes take place for 2016. In here, Alfa adds in a new optional Carbon Fiber Trim Package that adds a touch of the lightweight material to the HVAC vents, the instrument cluster surround, the instrument panel, and the shift bezels. There is also a new premium leather interior option with Tobacco and Black sport seats.

In addition to the new aesthetic features inside the 4C’s cockpit, Alfa also added some new functional items. These include a new lockable console, a standard alarm on the 4C Spider, and a standard Alpine audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, USB port and premium speakers.

Other than these updates, it looks as if the 4C and 4C Spider will carry on unchanged, for 2016. This means it will still carry the potent 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that cranks out 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This four-pot mates to a twin-clutch transmission that plays a big part in the 4C’s 4.1-second 0-to-60 time.

The 2016 Alfa 4c and 4C Spider is heading to dealers in the U.S. now, so you should be able to get your hands on one soon. Pricing starts at $55,900 for the 4C and $65,900 for the 4C Spider.
