The Ford Mustang is getting its first RTR package for the 2015 model, which has been developed in collaboration with famous drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr. The new package includes performance and appearance upgrades for the pony car, and will be installed by Ford dealers starting in January of 2015. The automaker says that with the global spread of the Mustang, the new RTR package will be made available through a number of select global dealerships.

The exterior of the Mustang will feature exclusive RTR logos, custom striping, unique front and rear bumpers, a trunk lid-mounted rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser. Ford has divulged that the package will come in Spec 1 and Spec 2 varieties.

Performance upgrades for Spec 1 package, which can only be added to EcoBoost and GT models, include Ford Racing springs that drop the ride height by one inch, high-performance tires, and an RTR Axleback exhaust that adds 9 horsepower to the total engine output. The Spec 2 package comes with a Ford Racing Tune that adds another 16 horsepower, a high-flow K&N air intake filter, front and rear sway bars, an upgraded suspension with adjustable struts and shocks, chassis reinforcement, and cross-drilled brake discs.

Anticipation of the new package and its performance upgrades is high, especially considering Gittin’s involvement with the project. The drifter stated that he was so excited about the performance abilities of the all-new Mustang that he wanted to get involved further with the vehicle. Considering that Gittin is known for a particularly aggressive driving style in the world of competitive drifting, just about anything seems possible with the new package.

The official release of the RTR package for the 2015 Mustang will take place during the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, which is set for November.
