5. Ford Focus ST – MSRP from $24,115
With a base MSRP of just under $25,000 the Focus ST is quickly becoming a favorite for those who want cheap speed. While the car lacks the all-wheel drive setup of many competing models, the front-whee-drive car does have an innovative powertrain that consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission for some quick gear changes. Peak output measures 252 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. The unique overboost feature extends the engine’s peak torque output for a maximum of 15 seconds, giving a quick surge of power when needed. The car can go from 0 to 60 in about 6.6 seconds, making it the most fun you can have in a Focus while keeping all of your clothing on. To top it off, the suspension is tuned for tight performance and the electric-assist power steering is surprisingly accurate
