You Can Order Car Test Drives Through Amazon Prime Now
If you’re like me, you find going to a dealership to test drive a vehicle to be a hassle. Half the time, you get the runaround as sales associates try to make you fill out a credit application, like that’s necessary to take a car out for a spin. Thankfully, Volkswagen has started to zero in on consumers’ plight, which is why its partnering with Amazon to offer test drives.
No, they don’t deliver a car to your doorstep, but a dealership employee will drive it to the street in front of it. The test drives last for 45 to 60 minutes, which is longer than normal. They come with a VW expert, which could potentially be annoying.
The bad news is this is only a limited-run program. Volkswagen is doing it Sept. 22-24, and again Sept. 29 through Oct. 1 in Chicago and Los Angeles, and only in certain ZIP codes. People lucky enough to be in those areas will only be able to test out the VW Atlas SEL Premium. Also, you must have an Amazon Prime Now membership.
This could mark the future of car shopping, where you can sit around on the couch, waiting for salesmen to come to you, instead of venturing onto enemy territory.
