Watch A Porsche Cayenne Tow An Airliner

I remember once hearing someone going on about “all those sissies who drive Porsche Cayennes.” The insinuation was that a full-size American pickup truck is hands-down tougher. I wish I could show that person the video above, because it demonstrates just how tough the Cayenne can be.

VW fans should remember that a Touareg V10 TDI towed a Boeing 747 over 10 years ago. That set a Guinness World Record, because the SUV was pulling 155 tons. Nissan came along with the Patrol and beat that record, but now the record is coming back to the VW Group.

Porsche used a 2017 Cayenne S to tow an Airbus A380, which weighs an amazing 285 tons. Of course, the SUV has a biturbo 4.1-liter V-8 diesel engine, which cranks out 383 horsepower and an earth-shattering 627 lb.-ft. of torque. Porsche used one of its technicians to drive the SUV.

Funny enough, Porsche then did it again with a Cayenne Turbo S, just to prove a point.
