Watch A Discovery Sport Tow A Train

Some people in the United States have a mistaken image of Land Rovers being soft. I guess that’s understandable, if their only exposure to the SUVs has been seeing them cruising the parking lot of the local mall.

The fact is, Land Rovers are incredibly tough and capable. I’ve seen them climb through terrain that seemed impassable, forded rivers in them, etc.

To quiet any haters of the Discovery Sport, Land Rover decided to do what it did with a regular Discovery long ago: tow a 100-ton train. In other words, the load weighs as much as 60 Discovery Sports.

There are no significant modifications done to the SUV, which is able to pull off the amazing feat. I should mention the Discovery Sport has the 2.0-liter diesel engine, which you can’t get here. It uses All Terrain Progress Control, which is a semi-autonomous off-road system, helping keep speed constant.
