VUHL is Set to Launch an Even More Insane RR Version of its 05 at Goodwood

I make it no secret that I have an unhealthy obsession with track cars. There is just something about these lower-power, lightweight rigs that gets me going, and one of my favorites is the little-known VUHL 05. VUHL is really trying to mess with the emotions of us track-car lovers with the announcement that it’ll reveal a new, hotter 05RR model at the only place deserving of seeing such a model, the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The details surrounding the VUHL 05RR are mostly still under wraps, but the automaker did reveal a few teaser images of various components. These components include a single center-mounted exhaust exit, a pair of fins on the front bumper, a heavier-duty tubular suspension, a massive intercooler, stainless-steel pedals, and carbon-fiber wheels.

In addition to these images, the automaker did announce that the 05RR will undergo “aggressive mass reduction and aero programs” to make it more responsive on the track. In addition to these enhancements, we could see VUHL push the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine beyond its current marks of 285 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. What’s more, like the 05, the 05RR will still be road legal in the U.K.

Luckily, we won’t have to wait long to learn more about this newest track rig, as it will climb the famed Goodwood hill between June 23rd and 26th. Stay tuned for updates.
