The proliferation of Polestar-tuned Volvos has been slower (read: non-existent) here in the U.S. as opposed to Europe, but things are about to change soon. Recently, the Swedish automaker announced U.S. availability of its S60 and V60 Polestar models, but production is, unfortunately, very limited.

The S60 and V60 sedan and wagon will both feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 362 horsepower and 347 foot-pounds of torque in their Polestar-tuned versions. Polestar reached these numbers by taking the standard Drive-E 2.0-liter and adding a larger turbo, a supercharger, stronger connecting rods, new cams, a larger air intake system, and a high-capacity fuel pump.

This potent engine mates with a retuned eight-speed Geartronic auto transmission that sends the power to all four wheels via a BorgWarner four-wheel-drive system. The results speak for themselves, as the S60 and V60 both sprint to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and top out at 155 mph – the former makes these some of the quickest Volvos ever built.

Fuel economy is also not too shabby at 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.

Going fast is just part of the Polestar equation, as these models also feature retuned handling. This comes by way of optimized weight distribution, 20-inch lightweight wheels, a Polestar-calibrated electric power steering system, and 371 mm (14.6-inch) slotted rotors.

These will be the first-ever full-Polestar vehicles available in the U.S., and they will be extremely limited. Volvo has limited the Americas to just 200 units of the S60 and V60 Polestar – I assume 100 of each.

Pricing will come at a later date. Stay tuned!
