VIDEO: Acura Races Camouflaged NSX Around the ‘Ring
Quite a bit of anticipation has built up about the upcoming release of the new Acura NSX. The brand has done a good job of getting everyone excited, saying things like the new model will provide the same level of excitement as the venerable Ferrari 458, but come at about the price point of the Porsche 911. Of course, Acura forgot to mention that the car won’t constantly break or spontaneously combust like a Ferrari, so there’s that as well.
In any case, a camouflaged version of the production car was spotted racing around the Nurburgring Nordschleife recently. Acura certainly wasn’t trying to hide the car, considering it is racing around with quite a few regular old cars, including a Mark IV Toyota Supra!
While the camo makes it hard to make out all of the details of the production model’s exterior, what can be distinguished is causing quite a stir. The car looks modern while still nodding to the NSX of old, a car that was incredibly advanced for its time. Some are even saying they see elements of the McLaren MP4-12C and the Porsche 918.
In the video of the NSX running laps, you can hear the alien hum of the electric motor as the car powers through turns. It looks pretty agile, as it weaves around lesser vehicles with relative ease, but exactly what level of performance it will deliver is still admittedly a mystery. One thing’s for sure, though: unlike the Tesla Model S, the new NSX can most definitely run a hard lap on the ‘Ring.
