Last month during the historic 2014 Chicago Auto Show, Volvo unveiled their most powerful production vehicles ever. The racing and high-performance division of Volvo, called Polestar, offered a stunning S60 sedan and V60 wagon in brilliant Rebel Blue. These limited edition vehicles will be available in limited quantities in the U.S. so look for them to go fast in more ways than one. The 2015 Volvo S60 and S90 Polestar are set for delivery in North American markets in the summer of 2014.

Polestar has been globally recognized for their innovative methods of obtaining superior performance from turbocharged engines while maintaining (and in some cases improving) fuel efficiency. Their success on the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) circuit is undeniable as they have won numerous manufacturer season crowns, as well as individual driver championships. While the competitive racing division concentrates on winning titles and championships, the performance division focuses their undivided attention towards extracting optimum performance from Volvo production machines. Polestar has been developing the S60 since 2011. It was first introduced in 2012 as a 508-horsepower concept vehicle.

Both the S60 and V60 Polestars offer classic European styling with deeply etched lines, an athletic stance, and tastefully placed Polestar badging. Even the four-door station wagon model V60 emits a competitive swagger that is not a typical Volvo characteristic. The brilliant Rebel Blue color is quite a head-turner, however both cars will also be available in Sapphire Black. A specially designed set of 20-inch spoke wheels with low-profile tires complete the performance appearance.

Ventilated Brembo cross-drilled rotors and six-piston calipers will serve to provide the additional braking force to accommodate the additional horsepower. Suspension upgrades will include an increased spring rate and heavy-duty Ohlin’s shocks.

The passenger seating is premium with leather and “Nubuck” surfaces, stitched in Polestar Blue. The Nubuck fabric also covers the thicker flat-bottom steering wheel, which lends a competitive feel to this sophisticated cabin. The entire cabin is trimmed in a unique type of faux carbon-fiber material. The cabin is spacious and the V60 offers tons of cargo area.

Both the S60 and the V60 Polestar models are powered by turbocharged DOHC inline six-cylinder engines. They have undergone extensive performance software recalibration; they are outfitted with twin-scroll turbochargers, high-performance intercoolers, and full-flow stainless-steel exhaust systems. This combination uses a six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters to deliver an impressive 350-horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque to the all-wheel drivetrain.
