If you haven’t noticed all of the TV commercials, Jaguar has started to heavily promote their new convertible-only sports car, the 2014 F-Type. They are actually bringing the name back after a 40 year hiatus, except this F-Type is nothing like the one of the past.

The F-Type is being offered in three different packages; the F-Type, the F-Type S, and the F-Type V8 S. They go up in price in the same order ranging from $69,895 to the high-end of $114,000 for the loaded V8 S. The key difference simply being how much power you want when you stomp on that accelerator. The base F-Type is powered by a 340 horsepower 3.0 liter V6 while the F-Type V8 S rockets along with a 5.0 liter V8 and much larger 485 horsepower. Their Boxter and 911 Carrera models are still the kings in their category but manufacturers like Jaguar (and others including Lexus) are definitely trying to compete. In terms of raw performance this Jaguar is definitely going to give Porsche Boxsters in particular a run for their money. Then again, even the 911 Carrera S tops out at 400HP, 50 less than the F-Type V8 S!
