Volkswagen fans in the U.S. have been champing at the bit to get their hands on the all-new Golf Alltrack since it hit the show circuit months ago. With its launch in dealers nearing, Volkswagen decided now is the time to release the final few details on its rugged wagon, including its price.

The Golf Alltrack’s pricing will start at $25,850 for the S trim with the manual transmission while the automatic model adds $1,100 to that price. This base price makes the Alltrack only $250 more expensive than the Subaru Outback’s base price.

Moving into the midrange SE model pushes the base price to $29,430 with a manual transmission and $30,530 with the auto transmission. The range-topping SEL trim, which comes standard with the auto transmission, starts out at $32,890.

There is a slew of option packages available with the 2017 Golf Alltrack, some of which enhance its safety and others just add more features too. For those looking for additional safety, there is the $845 Driver Assistance Package (only available on the S and SE trims), which adds adaptive cruise, forward-collision warning with auto emergency braking, front and rear park-distance control, and parking assistance. Considering all that it adds, this seems like an outrageous value.

The SEL trim has an available Driver Assistance and Lighting Package ($1,995), which includes all the equipment from the Driver Assistance Package and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, lane-departure warning, high-beam assistance, and adaptive bi-xenon headlights.

All three trims will come with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that produces 170 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual while a six-speed dual-clutch transmission is optional. Of course, 4MOTION all-wheel drive is standard across the range.

The 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack with the auto transmission will hit showrooms in October and the manual models will arrive at a later date. Stay tuned for updates.
