The 2019 Ford Edge Gets the ST Treatment

With the ST package enjoying great success attached to the Focus and Fiesta models, it was only a matter of time before Ford began spreading the love. In 2019 it will do so, but to a model that many of us didn’t expect: the Edge.

While many people looked to either the Fusion or the Escape as a potential home for the next ST model, Ford shocked us with the 2019 Edge ST. The entire Edge lineup will undergo a refresh that includes new lighting, front fascia and hood, but the ST trim also gets more aggressive bumpers and ground effects to show off its performance chops. It also boasts 21-inch rollers wrapped in performance rubber.

Inside, the Edge ST will gain sport seats with “ST” badges on their backrests, and “ST” badges on the steering wheel and scuff plates.

The powertrain is where all the fun happens, as Ford bumped its 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6 engine to 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. These are increases of 20 horses and 30 pound-feet over the non-ST Edge’s 2.7-liter engine. All this power routes through a fast-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission and out to all four wheels.

Under its body is a sport-tuned suspension that helps it in the twisty stuff, while an optional set of performance brakes will help bring this beast to a stop.

There is no mention of pricing for the 2019 Edge ST, but my guess is it’ll check in around $43,000 to $45,000. It’ll arrive this summer.
