Tesla to “Uncork” the Model S P100D’s Potential Soon

Despite its issues over the past few years, Tesla just keeps on improving its Model S. In recent years, it not only added the “D” all-wheel drive but it also added Ludicrous mode and a new 100D model. The latter model is already awesome enough, but a recent comment by Elon Musk leads everyone to believe it will be even more insane in the near future.

Just a few days ago, Elon Musk tweeted “Forgot to mention there will be a P100D Ludicrous Easter egg soon that uncorks the full performance.” To many, that may seem like nothing, but to us gearheads, that is massive. The Model S P100D is already one of the quickest cars in the world with its 2.5-second 0-to-60 time in Ludicrous mode.

While Musk revealed no details, this tweet implies that the Model S 100D will be even quicker, possibly making it the fastest-accelerating production vehicle in the world (it’s currently the third fastest model). I am willing to bet that Musk would love nothing more than to tuck that feather in his cap.

There is also no mention of what this update will be or when it will be available. Knowing Musk’s history, however, his wild tweets like this usually don’t come too far before their respective announcements.
