Tesla Poaches Volvo Executive To Make Better Interiors
Let’s face it: no matter how revolutionary Tesla may be, its interiors suck. While it’s great the Model X can clean up the air inside and immediately around it, the cabin feels a little cheap and ill thought-out, especially when compared to other luxury SUVs.
But Tesla has just poached Anders Bell from Volvo. He was the head of interior engineering for the Swedish automaker, and you can see his influence in vehicles like the XC90. That’s great news for future Tesla owners.
Electrek is reporting that Bell is now a senior director of engineering at Tesla. Exactly how much influence he’ll have over the interior design of the Model 3 and other vehicles remains to be seen. There’s plenty of room for improvement.
If Teslas actually had sumptuous, luxurious interiors, it could lure quite a few people from their Mercedes, BMW or Lexus. This could be huge for the company and electric cars in general.
