Subaru Adds a Black Edition and Announces Changes for the 2018 Forester Lineup

The 2018 announcements are rolling in on nearly a daily basis, and today it’s the Subaru Forester to jump in on the fun. Subaru has announced a handful of tweaks to the new Forester, with the most significant being a new optional package.

This package, known as the Black Edition, will be an option on the 2.5i Premium trim Forester with the Lineartronic CVT and paddle shifters (the paddle shifters were reserved for the turbo models last year). It’ll come standard with X-Mode and Hill Descent Control to help with off-road adventures, and adaptive LED lighting for added safety.

Stylistically, the Black Edition will gain 18-inch black alloy wheels, black accent trim around the fog lights, black-finish badges and mirrors, and a blacked-out wing motif on the front grille. Inside, the upgrades will include black cloth upholstery with faux-leather bolsters, a silver- and gloss-black-finished center dash panela leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob, silver contrast stitching, and chrome door handles. Finally, the Black Edition will come standard with the All-Weather Package, rear cargo tray, and welcome lighting.

For all these goodies, the 2018 Forester’s Black Edition package will add just $1,150 to the 2.5i Premium trim’s base MSRP of $26,195 (with the CVT).

Additional changes to the 2018 Forester lineup include standard active torque vectoring on the 2.0XT Touring model, standard Eyesight Driver Assistance Technology on all Touring trims, and high-beam assist and automatic reverse braking are now included in the Eyesight package.

Prices for the 2018 Subaru Forester will start from $22,795 and top out at $36,090 for the 2.0XT Touring trim.

The 2018 Forester will hit showrooms in the summer of 2017.
