To say that the Kia Sportage is a hotly anticipated vehicle would be quite the overstatement. However, there are likely plenty of middle-class families with this small crossover on their radar. Well, if you are up for waiting a little while, you can get a completely restyled version of the crossover.

Thanks to the savvy folks over at The Korean Car Blog, who dug up these leaked images from Korea, we now have a clear look at the next-generation Sportage. This new crossover is set for its global debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show, which kicks off on September 15th.

As you can see from the images, the next-gen Sportage will share little more than its compact stature with the current model. Its body will feature a sleek and modern design that is quite a detour from the current model. In fact, from the front end, it seems to take a little inspiration from the Porsche Macan, thanks to its elongated headlights and tapered nose. Fortunately, its Tiger Nose grille is a dead giveaway that this is a Kia.

Around back, things are pretty much standard Kia, as there are wraparound taillights, an upright tailgate, and a pretty simple bumper design. Dual exhaust tips do add a touch of sportiness to the otherwise subtle rear end.

Though there are no images of the cabin, reports indicate that this space will receive a complete overhaul too. This will reportedly include the same steering wheel as the new Optima, an 8-inch Infiniti infotainment system, and a dash design similar to the current Sorento.

The powertrain options remain a question mark for now, but expect a healthy dosage of four-cylinder engines. The Sportage will likely continue with a larger-displacement four-pot as the standard engine and a turbocharged four-cylinder as the range-topper. In addition to those two engines, Kia could also introduce a small-displacement turbo as an “Eco” option, which could get it into the coveted 30 mpg range on the highway.

Stay tuned for updates as we approach the 2016 Sportage’s official reveal in Frankfurt.
